The registration is $25 before February 8th and $30 after this date. Registration includes lunch.

Description
Mark your calendars for the 22nd annual Joys of Gardening program offered by the University of Illinois Extension and the U of I Extension Master Gardeners. the program will begin with registration at 8 a.m., keynote address at 8:25 a.m., and breakout sessions following the keynote. Samantha Peckham, Senior Horticulturalist with Cantigny Gardens will present the keynote, Garden Design for Plant-A-Holics. She will have a candid discussion about how you can design a beautiful, functional space that will reflect your personality while highlighting ALL of your treasured plants. Following the keynote presentation will be a series of four breakout sessions. Each breakout session will include unique garden related classes. Session 1: Hydroponics: The Future of Food, Cooking with Fresh Produce, Trends in Monarch Populations, Gardening for Life, and Hostas? Hostas. Hostas! Session 2: Gardening for Life, No Soil Required: Exploring Home Hydroponics, Backyard Berry Production, Beyond Dirt: Successful Soil Management, From Seed to Success: Growing Cut Flowers at Home, and Harvesting a Rainbow of Tomatoes. Session 3:Micro-Prpagation, Terrific Tomatoes and Perfect Peppers, Woodpeckers of Illinois, Daylilies: From Stella to Stellar!, Hydrangeas Demystified, and Creating a Victorian Style Flower Garden. The day will conclude with a single presentation in Session 4: Armchair Tour of the Gardens of Midway Village. Local professionals, Extension Staff and U of I Extension Master Gardeners will lead each of the classes. Joys of Gardening will again feature the popular Master Gardener Seed Giveaway. Master Gardeners have collected, cleaned, and packaged seeds from their yards and these seeds will be available to participants at no charge. In addition, a silent auction will be held to support programs offered by the University of Illinois Extension- Master Gardeners. There will be door prizes as well.
