Job Description
312 Beef & Sausage is a growing neighborhood Italian beef, sausage and hot dog joint specializing in quick carryout service located in downtown Freeport, IL.
Our catering department has grown rapidly over the last six months and we are looking for a highly organized and self-driven Catering & Events Manager to join the team and accelerate future growth.
Job Description: 
The Catering Manager is responsible for the overall business development, operation and execution of catering events. This involves managing the relationship with the customer on planning and pricing as well as working with the 312 Beef & Sausage staff on preparation before and after the event. The right candidate will work closely with customers to ensure their event is successfully executed, and follow up with the client to get feedback after the event concludes.  
In this role, the Catering Manager will also focus on increasing 312 Beef & Sausage’s exposure in the Freeport market through:
  • Business Caterings
  • Social Caterings
  • Community Give Back Days
  • Community Involvement
Job Duties Include:
  • Managing previous catering customer relationships
  • Prospecting, cold/warm calls on a consistent basis, setting appointments with prospects, providing samples to businesses with 10+ employees, following up, closing sales, and maintaining good relationship with clients
  • Driving catering sales through creative marketing and sales efforts
  • Helping plan, organize and coordinate all aspects of events utilizing catering services including pricing, execution, and invoicing
  • Scheduling setup, delivery, and pick-up for catering events as well as processing last minute changes
  • Managing the catering calendar and team to support the catering
  • Assisting in pre-shift and departmental meetings in order to brief personnel regarding event information and needs for all catering day/evening events
  • Working with marketing to create and manage catering materials and social media content
  • Handling and resolving catering customer feedback
  • Building relationships with local professionals, local businesses, and hotels
  • Researching and following up on business development opportunities in a timely fashion
  • Attending weekly industry events (Greater Freeport Partnership)
  • Meeting weekly with management/ownership to track progress and performance metrics
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • 2-3 years experience in catering, sales or restaurant leadership

  • Outstanding customer service and relationship building skills
  • Organization, facilitation, and presentation skills
  • Consistent attention to details
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility to work daytime, evenings, and some weekends, as required
  • Excel, Outlook and Social Media skills
  • Understanding of cost and pricing analysis
Hours and Expectations
  • The Catering Manager position will require a minimum of 20 hours per week as needed, or as the budget allows.
  • The position will be required to work daytime, evening and weekend hours, as dictated by the events.  
  • The Catering Manager will be expected to effectively and efficiently communicate to 312 Beef & Sausage staff catering and event bookings.
  • The Catering Manager will be expected to be available for ALL events that require delivery and set-up. 
  • The Catering and Event Manager will prepare and provide timely invoices to ensure 312 Beef & Sausage staff is informed of the order details.
  • The Catering Manager will be provided up to three weeks of training inside and outside of 312 Beef & Sausage to become well-versed in all aspects of the business and menus
  • Compensation will consist of a base salary plus commission on each catering event.
